CSoM Students

Registration
All new students have to register. Please complete the registration form and return it to the academy by email or in person. There will be a $35 registration fee.

Lesson
The first lesson/interview is free of charge. Music lessons are weekly for 30-minute or 60 minutes sessions. Students will attend their weekly classes on time and with all the lesson materials prepared. Lessons will not be extended due to tardiness.

Tuition
30 min lesson -----$37.50

45 min lesson -----$56.25
60 min lesson -----$75

Invoices will be sent out monthly. We accept cash, checks, and online payments payable to CSoM. We also accept credit card payments via a link on your invoice.

Payments and Late Fees
Tuition is due in full by the 8th of each month. A $20 late fee will be applied after the first week. There is no refund for same-day cancellations.

Practice
We expect our students to practice every day. The amount of practice time depends on the student's age and level and will be determined by their teacher. Parental guidance is essential for younger students.

Cancellation and Makeup Lessons

THERE IS NO REFUND FOR SAME-DAY CANCELLATIONS. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to qualify for a makeup. Makeups may be scheduled with any available CSoM teacher. This policy exists out of respect for our teachers' time and scheduling commitments.

Consistent Attendance: Your weekly lesson time is reserved specifically for your family and prevents another student from booking that time. We completely understand that occasional absences happen. However, if cancellations become frequent and repeatedly leave a teacher with an unpaid opening, our administrative team will reach out to discuss attendance. In cases of continued frequent cancellations, we may release the recurring time slot to another student and explore a scheduling option that better fits the family.

Families who wish to keep their recurring lesson time during a period when they expect to miss lessons may continue paying tuition to reserve the time slot.

If the teacher cancels a lesson, it will be rescheduled at your convenience or refunded.

Recitals and Performances
We hold biannual recitals and various competitions and events throughout the year. All students are strongly encouraged to utilize the opportunity of performances as a delightful and exhilarating experience. In addition, it is beneficial for students to have the chance to share their performances as well as to listen to their peers.

Holiday and School Breaks

CSoM does not have a school-wide holiday or break schedule. Each teacher determines their own holiday schedule and will notify their students in advance of any planned time off.

Most teachers typically take time off during the following periods:

Thanksgiving Break: Nov 25–Nov 27

Winter Break: Dec 23–Jan 2

Spring Break: Mar 29–Apr 2

These dates are provided as a general guide and do not necessarily represent your teacher's individual schedule. Please refer to communication from your teacher for their specific holiday and break dates.

Termination Policy
The teacher retains the right to dismiss any students for reasons including, but not limited to, excessive absences, unpaid tuition, or abuse of studio property. If students wish to terminate lessons, we will refund the student any remaining balance left in that month.

Media Consent
By enrolling in CSoM and signing this studio policy, the student and their guardian(s) consent to and authorize Chesapeake School of Music to use video-audio recordings and photographs of the student for promotional and educational purposes only. We will notify students before any material is used. Please get in touch with us if you wish to have any material removed.

Video Surveillance
A video surveillance system is used in the studio during lessons. This system records every aspect of the activities in the studio. We will not use the video obtained from this system for purposes other than evaluating the effectiveness of the music instruction and safety concerns. Under no circumstances will the videotape be shown to third parties without the parent's consent or under a court order.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding anything, don't hesitate to contact your primary teacher. If there is a substantial problem that you need help to resolve with your teacher, please get in touch with our admin at chesapeakeschoolofmusic@gmail.com.
